December

Some Thursday in December..
I got to go to a talk about veganism at Barretts on campus. It was informative, but the best part was that there were a bunch of vegan snacks. They were delicious, especially the brownies and carrot/raisin bread things!

After a few hours of digesting, I headed to the Phoenix Rock Gym and climbed for a couple hours. My arms were so sore!

Came home to find a teacher party in my kitchen! Deuces!

 Hey Homie!

 Someone brought Cards Against Humanity!

Concorda Christmas 2K14
This year's theme was denim on denim. I'd say we did a great job with our outfits.
 Sean is just so photogenic!

I'm sorry we're so weird Popeye. You still love us.

 Jon searched for lint.

 Like I said, very photogenic...

Once Christmas break began, we had a lot of time on our hands. One day we had nothing to do, so we decided to go to Tucson.

SVU. We don't watch regular tv at the concord cottage. If we do, it's because we've lost our dvd/netflix remote. After Chase's teacher party that is exactly what happened. Our remote was nowhere to be found.

Chase and her dad wanted sausage so we went on a sausage hunt to find a small polish deli they used to go to. Little did we know, it'd been closed for a while and we had to find somewhere else to get our sausage fix. We ended up her and they had what we were looking for: sausage. It was delicious.

Recently, food city held a tamale fest in downtown phoenix. I love tamales. There was music, tamales, spanish speaking people, and free nesquik and tortillas! It was fun.
Sipping free nesquik arm in arm with your roommate. What could be more romantic?

On the same day, a few blocks away, there was a German festival. As we searched for it, we passed Chase, the bank with the banks.

Here's Chase in front of the Chase banks.

Here's Sean, in front of the Chase bank sign, standing by the bank.

Here's Tim. He's skating the Chase banks on the Chase bank property.

 ATMs are cool.

 Friends helping friends.

Either Tim is a really good friend, or Sean is really lazy.

Laila and Kyle are getting married!!

I love sleepovers. They are just as much fun when you're 24 as when you're ten. I think they'll always be fun. What could be better than movies, snacks, and getting to spend time with dear friends?

Home for the Holidays!
Off to Florida.

 Good job guys!

Luna!! I've missed her so much! She is so much bigger than I remember! I wish I could take her everywhere I go. She's an old pup now. Ten years old! Look at that adorable smile!

This is Jose. Last time I saw this kid, he was about 2 years old. Now he's making faces and is never quiet. His favorite foods include french fries and hotdogs.

For his birthday, he got a robosapien.

He was clearly very excited. He kisses him and even calls him son.

One time, I almost ate a pistachio with a bug in it. I haven't had pistachios since.

Weekend with the Condons Pt. 1 (feat. Steph)
Cass's family had a work party my first weekend back! We played pool, ping-pong, basketball, foosball and ate pizza, delicious cupcakes that Steph made and MEATBALLS!!

Beach day! The surf wasn't very good but we're not very good, so it was okay. I hadn't been to the beach in such a long time!

Have I mention that I love shaved ice? I do!

When you decide to go swimming in your extra shirt, you have to find a way to dry it. This method worked well.

 Dinner.

Liquid chocolate. Imagine nutella but so much better. It doesn't have the type of sweetness that makes you think you'll be a diabetic with just one spoonful. Its so deliciously addicting. Cass got it for me in France as a Christmas present. Thanks Cass!

My cat named Chocolate. Isn't she the cutest?! Just so you know, she's laying on my clothes, covering it in fur.

 The hens!

Weekend with the Condons Pt. 2 (feat. Jon and Steph Thomas)
Jon helping Cass with her skate.
We went roller skating with Jon and Steph and Cass's two cousins. It was so much fun. By the end of the night my quads and shins were all achy. Jon and Cass are so good at skating! They were weaving their way around the rink, going backwards and Jon was dancing. It was great!

After the rink, we headed to Jon and Steph's house and got to explore the house they're building. It's so big and pretty. If you've ever seen the movie Django, you'll have an idea of what the house looks like. It looks like a plantation house! We explored it in the dark with flashlights. I'm not a huge fan of the dark so I was a little on edge as we perused.

 Pretty sunset!

 Gotcha!

 Morning surf check.
The first break we went to had big waves. The waves were big enough to help a person drown. When I say 'person,' I mean me. I almost drowned. The water was cold and we thought it would be a great idea to wear wetsuits. I borrowed Steph's and although it was a little tight, I thought, "hey, it'll at least be warm and cozy." And I was. I was way to cozy. By the time I got out far enough I realized my wetsuit was making it very difficult to breathe and move. Waves started hitting me in the face and that's when I knew it was over.
Panicking in any situation is not a good idea. As the waves hit and I tried to make my way back in, I told myself to stay calm and just keep moving. I tried to unzip my wetsuit so I could breathe easier but I couldn't reach the zipper pull and I started to panic a bit more. It's easier said than done, especially when you're swallowing water, can't breathe and can barely move your arms.  Eventually (probably two minutes later) I caught up to Cass and she helped unzip my wetsuit and get me to shore.

After the whole 'almost drowning incident,' we headed to our home break: Lori Wilson. The waves there weren't as brutal and I made the wise choice of not wearing a corset-like wetsuit. The water was chilly, the sun was hot, the waves were good. Surfing was a success.

Look at this cool tree! I'd never seen a tree like this before. It looks like a cross between a pine tree and a regular tree.
